Little is known about the nocturnal passage of migrating birds across Austria. To provide some basic information about this phenomenon, simultaneous observations of bird movements in front of the moon were conducted by the Nocturnal Migration Network Eastern Alps.

Daphne
On the Slovakian side of the March, the society Daphne (founded in 1993) is active. Their aim is the improvement of biodiversity and the renewing of the harmony between man and nature. The most important focus of their work lies in the restoration of the habitat and in the area of public relations.
 
     
Berg- und Naturwacht Hohenau an der March
Active for a long time in the region of Hohenau is the Berg- und Naturwacht, who are also involved with the society AURING in the area of the vogel.schau.plätze - particularly with the construction of the breeding raft for gulls and terns on the Kühlteich.
 
     
Kuling
An important wader research organisation is the Polish society "KULING". The ringing station of the vogel.schau.plätze is also involved with their Europe-wide project, studying Wood Sandpipers: "Tringa 2000".

Museumsdorf Niedersulz
With the Museumsdorf Niedersulz , the eastern Weinviertel has a very unique thing: Austria's only museum village, and the largest open-air museum in the state of Lower Austria, which together with the natural world in and around the village offers a fairytale-like view of the Weinviertel villages in the pre-industrial age. As the museum village lies only 20km away, it could be the pleasant completion of a visit to the vogel.schau.plätze!
 
     
Nationalpark Donauauen
At the southern border of the March-Thaya-Auen lies the extensive floodplain forests of the Danube. Those wishing to visit this area or seeking further information, can visit the Nationalpark Donau-Auen.
