Weekend bird excursions

As we no longer receive support from the Lower Austria Tourism department, we are no longer able to offer these weekly tours. If requested though, groups of six or more paying individuals can arrange a date to visit the vogel.schau.plätze.

Organised groups (bus or bicycle tours)

For groups we offer guided tours and excursions by arrangement, which in cooperation with the nature guides of the March-Thaya-Auen, we can supply in varied and flexible forms. The excursions can take place both at the vogel.schau.plätzen and in the surrounding area. They can easily be combined with canoe or bicycle tours and besides a focus on birds, by agreement, they can be dedicated towards botanical, historical or cultural aspects.

Meeting point: by arrangement.
Costs: The cost depends on the duration, (short trip or whole day excursion), the size of the group and the leader (nature guide or ornithologist) - please send us your requirements (number, duration of visit and technical expectations!); and we will calculate a tariff (between 6,50 and 14,50 Euro per adult, children reduced price).
Duration: free choice (also more than one day).

Visiting the ringing station

From July to October, the ringing station is open daily from Friday until Monday. With your visit you can experience bird ringing and bird research and receive an exciting view into the world of bird migration.

Costs: € 2,50 for adults, € 1,50 for AURING members; € 1,00 for children or free for AURING members.

Offers for schools

In May, June, September and October it is possible to bring a schoolclass to the vogel.schau.plätzen for one (or a half) day. The children will be continually supervised by trained ecological teachers, and receive an interactive view into the habitats of the pools and of bird ringing.
